[edit] History of Bluefish baseball

[edit] Bluefish Baseball Club

The first game of the Bluefish Baseball Club was May 1, 2004, and continued to have winning seasons throughout its playing history. The team has been to one Yawkey League Championship Series, defeating the Brighton Brewers four games to one to win the 2008 YBL Championship.

The Bluefish are a collection of former college and high school standouts from throughout eastern Massachusetts. Three of the team's players have moved on to play in the professional ranks. Nick Vardaro is currently with the Brockton Rox of the Can-Am League(Vardaro has since come back to the team in 2009, and was a key part to winning the title). Joe McGhee signed a contract with the Calgary Vipers, and by the end of 2008 was also playing for the Brockton Rox. Finally, after leaving the Bluefish in 2005, Kit Kadlec pitched 1 season in the German Bundesliga for the Wuppertal Stingrays.

The original founders of the Bluefish were Skip McCarty and Al Becker. The formation of the team was a merger of two already existing MABL teams, the Braves and the Mets, after management from both teams were stepping down. The two agreed to merging the teams on Tuesday September 16, 2003 while watching the epic Game 3 between the Worcester Giants and the Beantown Pub Cardinals. The merged Bluefish would start the 2004 season with 10 former Braves, 5 former Mets, and 9 free agent acquisitions.

[edit] Logos and uniforms

The official colors of the Bluefish Baseball Club are navy blue, powder blue, and white. The primary logo consists of the "Bluefish" wordmark in navy blue with aqua outline superimposed over a depiction of a cartoon bluefish holding a baseball bat.

The Bluefish wear caps produced by The Game Headwear and uniforms by Uniforms Express. The cap is navy blue with aqua trim on the ventilation holes and an aqua button, with the cap logo depicting a bluefish interwoven with a capital "B" centered on the front. The jersey is Carolina Blue with the "Bluefish" wordmark centered across the front in white letters with navy blue outline.
