Elections in Ecuador is about information on elections and election results in Ecuador.
Ecuador elects on national level a head of state, (a president), and a legislature. The President of the Republic and his vice-president are elected on one ballot for a four-year term by the people. The National Congress (Congreso Nacional) has 100 members elected for a four year term in the 22 provinces (so in fact multi-seat constituencies).
Ecuador has a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone; consequently; parties must work with each other to form coalition governments.

Rafael Correa's first term in office was due to end on January 15, 2011, but the new approved constitution written by the new National Assembly mandated general elections for April 26, 2009. In that election, Rafael Correa won in the first round with 51.9% of votes counted, the first time since 1979 for a representative to be elected without having to face a second round. Consequently, Correa began a new term in office due to end on August 10, 2013 and his presidency could be extended by reelection until 2017.
