Edenburg is a small sheep and cattle ranching town situated about 80 kilometres (50 mi) south of Bloemfontein in the Free State province of South Africa. As of 2001[update] it had a population of 8,138.[1]
Edenburg was proclaimed a town in 1863, and received municipal government in 1891.[2] It now falls within the Kopanong Local Municipality, which forms part of the Xhariep District Municipality.
The N1 highway bypasses the town to the east, while the Port Elizabeth–Bloemfontein railway runs along its western edge.
