The municipality is located on a plateau, resulting in the average altitude being 1,200 meters. This high position permits a slight adjustment in plants with the ability to grow, examples being: pines, oaks, rosemary, and juniper.
While little ruins are known of the region, specifically because of the centuries of farmland use by the poor, a few to note are tucked away in the hills, marking the peasants past presence here. These ruins consist of huts and livestock, that's now wild. These simple and fragile structures and animals' presence are from the 3rd and 4th centuries, since abandoned as early as middle of last century.
Fossils have also been found in this region, dating as far back to the Plio-Pleistocene era.
The population has gone down sharply in the municipality since the spike in the 2001 census, which was 114 inhabitants.
