Elgin Township is located in Kane County, Illinois. It is a 6 miles (9.7 km) square, of which 32.14 square miles (83.2 km2) is land and 0.49 square miles (1.3 km2) is water. It is divided by the Fox River. Its population in the 2000 Census was 90,384, the second largest in the county. It has 31,167 housing units.
Most of the township is incorporated in the City of Elgin.
