Elisabetta Canalis (Italian pronunciation: [elizaˈbetta kaˈnaːlis]) (born 12 September 1978) is an Italian actress.

She was a showgirl on the popular italian show Striscia la Notizia on Italian TV Canale 5 from 1999 to 2002. She featured in the 2003 Max calendar.[1] Canalis had minor roles in the films Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo [2] and Virgin Territory. [3] She was also a velina in the television show Striscia la notizia. In 2005, she replaced Michelle Hunziker in Love Bugs 2, the second season of the sit-com Love Bugs.[citation needed] In 2007, she co-hosted the annual italian music festival, Festivalbar.[4] In 2009, she replaced Elena Santarelli on the Italian version of Total Request Live, on MTV Italia. In 2010, she played a recurring character in season 3 of the TNT series Leverage.[6]
In February 2011, she made a highly critcized apparition on the televised Italian song contest Sanremo Music Festival with Gianni Morandi and Belen Rodriguez.[7]
In June 2011, she appeared in a photoshoot of the Spanish version of Vogue,[8] and in September 2011 in the Arabian version of Harper's Bazaar.[9] Canalis appeared on the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars.[10] She was paired with Valentin Chmerkovskiy and was the second to be eliminated on 27 September 2011. She posed nude for PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked than Wear Fur" campaign in 2011, telling Reuters that, "This is a thing which I personally believe and trust in, so nobody told me to do it. Since I was a little kid, I was against fur, I never wore fur in my life.'"[11]

Elisabetta's father worked in Sassari’s University clinic and her mother was an Italian teacher.[12] She has a brother named Luigi.[13] She was educated in Sassari, where she attended the classical gymnasium, and then moved to Milan to study foreign languages at “Università degli Studi di Milano”, though she never graduated.[14]
She dated the American actor George Clooney for almost 18 months. The couple split in June 2011.[15] She is now dating Steve-O.[16]
