[edit] Music career

First active in 1996 with the freestyle single, "Show Me How You Love Me", Elissa gained success with an English version of the song "Mamboleo" in 1999, which charted #6 in Canada, and earned her a Canadian Music Radio Award nomination. In 2001, "Back to Me" became a #1 hit in Brazil, and in 2002, "The Light" won a Canadian Indies Award and a nomination for a Canadian Juno Award. She is currently promoting a new single, "Truth", for the US market.[1]

"Mamboleo" gained some exposure on the Internet after it was used in an anime music video ("Odorikuruu") by Ontario-based Jay R. Locke in 2001; it has also been released in a Dancemania compilation. A flash animated Phoenix Wright dance to "Mamboleo" done by Zarla appeared on Newgrounds on October 10, 2007 under the title "Mambolawyer"

In 2002, her single "The Light" won a Canadian Indies Award and a nomination for a Canadian Juno Award in the Best Dance Recording Category.

Elissa now runs her own company On Key Studios, where she helps young Canadian artists develop into professional singer and teaches vocal lessons.[2]

In April 2007, Elissa released her second album, "I'm With The DJ - Greatest Hits" and in the same year worked on the song Tanti Auguri with Eu4ya on the sampler Italo Boot Mix 2007.[3]
