Emre Çolak (Turkish pronunciation: [emre tʃo̞ɫɑk], born 20 May 1991) is a Turkish international footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Galatasaray in the Süper Lig. He is a product of the Galatasaray Youth Academy. He has been nicknamed 'Kucuk Elmas' (The Small Diamond) by fans and also been compared to Galatasaray's Romanian legend Gheorghe Hagi.
He began his football career playing for amateur side Atışalanıspor, before being invited to train with Besiktas for several months, but he eventually chose to return to his first club. After continuing his impressive performance at Atışalanıspor, he was finally scouted by Galatasaray, where he eventually joined the Youth Academy at the age of 13. Since then, he has represented the club at every youth level before making his professional debut in 2008 under Frank Rijkaard at the Ali Sami Yen in a Cup match against Denizli Belediyespor, where he scored two goals. He has since become an integral part of the team under coach Fatih Terim and won his first Süper Lig title and Turkish Super Cup in 2012 and made his UEFA Champions League debut in the same year.
Emre has also represented Turkey at every international level, from U15, U16, U17, U18, U19, U20, U21 and A2 before making his senior debut in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Romania in 2012 under coach Abdullah Avcı.
He rose through the ranks of the Galatasaray youth and academy team, and was promoted to the first team during the 2009–10 season. He scored two goals on his first team debut, in a cup match against Denizli on 17 January 2010. He made his league debut for Gala in a home match against Gaziantepspor coming on as an 89th minute substitute for Arda Turan.
He scored 2 goals on 2011–12 Süper Lig to İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor as Galatasaray won 4–1. On 25 January 2012 Emre scored another goal to Ankaragücü in a 4–0 win for the Lions. On 16 February 2012, his contract was extended for 2 years until 2016.
On the first day of the new season, he was chosen in the starting lineup in a match against Kasimpasa SK and was instrumental in Galatasaray's 2–1 home win, assisting both goals to team mate Umut Bulut. On September 19, 2012 he made his UEFA Champions League debut in a Group H match away against Manchester United, impressing as a second-half substitute in a game with Galatasaray narrowly lost 1–0. He also made his international debut, playing against Romania in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, again coming on as a substitute. He made his home debut in the Champions League in the starting lineup against SC Braga 2 October 2012. He scored his first goal for the 2012–13 season against Beşiktaş as Galatasaray won 2–1.
He began the season with silverware, winning the 2013 Turkish Super Cup in Kayseri and making an appearance as a seconf half substitute.
