Encore (software)
Encore is a scorewriter program for Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, originally created in the 1990s by the US company Passport. Presently Encore is distributed and developed by GVOX. MusicTime Deluxe is the 'essentials' version of Encore.

[edit] Ease of use
Encore is notable for being one of the first scorewriter programs to enable items in the musical score to be added and edited using the mouse. Encore is known for being extremely easy to learn to use. The learning curve is gradual; novices are spared a shower of features which power users still find at their disposal when needed.
Using Encore to play back your music – either imported as MIDI, recorded from a MIDI device, or entered with keyboards and mouse – is easy and pleasant. Tempo and volume per voice can be adjusted at will. That quality has been discovered by choristers and amateur bands as very useful for rehearsing their parts at home.

Originally designed by Passport, GVOX purchased the intellectual property of Passport in 1998.[1]
For ten long years, Encore fans waited to see what GVOX had in store for the next version of their beloved music notation program. Unfortunately, when Encore 5 finally came out, the tablature notation system no longer allowed you to edit the fret positions, meaning it was effectively broken and useless to anyone who wanted to create guitar or bass scores. Four years since the release of Encore 5, this glaring deficiency still has yet to be addressed.
New features include wizards to create scores (transposing as well as in Concert pitch) for numerous types of ensembles from scratch; MusicXML file format support, the Gvox VST player, which enables use of virtual studio instruments VSTi with Encore and J.S.Bach complete works for keyboard in Encore format.

Encore users profit from an active community at the GVOX forum, where dedicated experienced users offer free support. Also very helpful (for those who can read Dutch) is Vaak gestelde vragen en handleidingen over GVOX Encore en Music Time Deluxe (MTD).
The user community and GVOX currently intensively interact in a fruitful way, to improve the product and tune it to the customers needs, as can be observed at the forum.
