- Ensemble Prediction System, could refer to a Numerical weather prediction system used for producing Ensemble forecasts. Multiple forecasts are produced from similar initial conditions to produce an ensemble. Therefore, examining the spread of the ensemble gives an estimate of the Uncertainty in the prediction, and allows probabilistic forecasts to be issued (i.e. the chance of winds exceeding a threshold).
