Sanchez, who did not play college soccer, began his career as part of Major League Soccer team Chivas USA's U-19 academy. He signed for Chivas USA senior team on March 17, 2006, and played extensively with the reserve team in the MLS Reserve Division,[1] but never played a game for the senior team and was released after the end of the 2008 season.

Having been unable to secure a professional contract elsewhere, Sanchez played for the Hollywood United Hitmen in the USL Premier Development League in 2009.

Sanchez has been called up to several United States national team camps,[2] and played for the US U-20 team against Argentina in 2006,[3] but is yet to make his debut for the senior team.
