Notes[edit]

  1. ^ Sovereignty summit of Mont Blanc is contested between France and Italy. Italy considers sharing the summit between the two countries, on the contrary France traditionally includes the entire summit in its territory. According French interpretation, the border with Italy should be at Mont Blanc de Courmayeur, at 4748 m altitude. A joint committee worked on the matter in 1996 leaving the dispute still unsettled.
