The 2005 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the first edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, governed by FIFA. Previous editions before 2005 were not governed by FIFA and were held under the title Beach Soccer World Championships. Overall this was the 11th edition of the world cup since its establishment in 1995. It took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 8 May - 15 May 2005. The winners of the tournament were France, who won their first title.

The 12 teams present at the finals in Brazil were split into 4 groups of 3 teams. Each team played the other 2 teams in its group in a round robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the quarter finals. The quarter finals, semi finals and the final itself was played in the form of a knockout tournament.
