In astrology, the fall of a planet is the sign which is opposite that planet's sign of exaltation. Originally, in Greek, the sign of a planet's "fall" were called tapeinoma, which means "humbled" or "dejected" or "depressed,[1]" whereas "exalted," in Greek was hyposoma, which means "risen in height.[2]
Astrologers say that planets in fall are "uncomfortable" and "weak", having much less power to assert their own identity.[3] Fall is a form of debilitated essential dignity, an ancient system which assesses the comfort level of each planet in the position it finds itself in the chart.
The signs of planetary fall are as follows:
- Sun: in fall in Libra (exalted in Aries)
- Moon: in fall in Scorpio (exalted in Taurus)
- Mercury: in fall in Pisces (exalted in Virgo)
- Venus: in fall in Virgo (exalted in Pisces)
- Mars: in fall in Cancer (exalted in Capricorn)
- Jupiter: in fall in Capricorn (exalted in Cancer)
- Saturn: in fall in Aries (exalted in Libra)
