The International Festival of Arts and Ideas takes place on the New Haven Green (in New Haven, Connecticut) every summer for fifteen days in mid-June. Most of the free events on The Green fall under the 'arts' side of the festival, concerts, street performers, opera, theater, and dance. Lectures and discussions on a variety of subjects make up the 'ideas' portion of the Festival and can range from cooking to the future of the book to late-breaking international affairs. Cathy Edwards is the festival's curator and director of programming.
