Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, built in 1911, at 5th Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard.

Fifth Avenue is one of the longest streets in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It begins downtown and moves eastward for about seven or eight miles (12–14 km). Fifth Avenue passes by the Cathedral of Learning and WQED[disambiguation needed ] in Oakland, many buildings of the University of Pittsburgh as well as Carlow University, then through Shadyside and skirts past Chatham University and nearby East Liberty before it ends. At least 30 streets either cross or intersect with Fifth Avenue, including Penn Avenue, which intersects it twice (once in Downtown and again near Point Breeze).
