Endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, there were once four species of Apteribis:

  • Molokaʻi ibis (Apteribis glenos)
  • Lānaʻi ibis (A. [unnamed])
  • Upland Maui ibis (A. brevis)
  • Lowland Maui ibis (A. [unnamed])

The four Apteribis are all extinct.
