Summary

Description
English: What was once believed to be the remains of the east end of St Mary's, Coventry's first cathedral. On the left is the western wall of the new cathedral, consecrated 1962. A nearby sign gives the following description "East end of Benedictine abbey founded (by) Leofric and Godiva and consecrated in 1043. In 1102 it became the cathedral church of the Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield. In 1539 the monastery was dissolved and the church was abandoned." Over the years the stonework was taken and used in other buildings.
