Description
English: Portrait of Edward, Lord Clinton. Black and coloured chalks, silverpoint, pen and Indian ink on pink-primed paper, 22.3 × 14.7 cm, Royal Collection, Windsor Castle. The drawing has been retouched by other hands around the ear, neck, and hair. Edward Clinton (or Fiennes), 9th Lord Clinton (1512–1584/85), followed a long military career. He attended Henry VIII at Boulogne and Calais in 1532, and was later Captain of Boulogne, Lord High Admiral, and Constable of the Tower. He was created Earl of Lincoln in 1572.
