English: Heltnarnar is a skerry or rocky reef on Vágseiði west of the village Vágur, Faroe Islands. Vágur is a village on the southernmost island, Suðuroy (South Island). The sea is often rough around the skerry Heltnarnar. This place used to be in use as a fishing harbour in the 19th and early 20th century.
Føroyskt: Heltnarnar er eitt sker vestanfyri Vágseiði í Suðuroynni. Tað sær út sum um har eru fleiri sker, tí sjógvurin brýtur ofta uppum skerið, og tað er ymiskt hvussu høgt tað tað er, í støðum er tað eitt sindur høgt og í støðum er tað næstan javnt við havið. Kleivin er beint við Heltnarnar. Kleivin er á Vágseiðinum, tað var har ið bátarnir komu uppá land og fóru á sjógv, burtursæð frá tí tíðini, tá tráðbanin á Eiðinum var í brúk. Hann bleiv fyrst gjørdur í 1906, áðrenn elverkið varð bygt. Tráðbanini gjørdi, at bátarnir kundu hálast upp frá Múlagjógv og síðan hálast við tráðbananum vestur um helluna og upp á land, har neystini stóðu. Neystini vóru skolaði burtur í stormi og uppgangi 14. januar 1989. |
