Other information |
http://www.ihs.gov/publicinfo/photogallery/PG_Tresults.cfm says of this and other images in this set, "These images are royalty and cost free for appropriate official use in the production of printed and multi-media materials, to be used with respect and consideration due the subject of the image." Not exactly a free license, though really what is asserted doesn't go much beyond normal personality rights. Also, the source page says, "When using any IHS Photo Gallery images, please use the following credit line: Photo Courtesy of the Indian Health Service/U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. To be on the safe side, I'll reproduce that on the article page. Since the photo appears to be the work of a U.S. Government agency, it is not clear if these restrictions should apply, but I'm honoring them - Jmabel |

Licensing:[edit]
This image is a faithful digitisation of a unique historic image, and the copyright for it is most likely held by the person who created the image or the agency employing the person. It is believed that the use of this image may qualify as non-free use under the Copyright law of the United States. Use of historic images from press agencies must only be of a transformative nature, when the image itself is the subject of commentary rather than the event it depicts (which is the original market role, and is not allowed per policy). | |
