English: Misterton Soss. Access to the navigable length of the R Idle is via the guillotine gate seen here to the left of the pumphouse. Control of the water level between this gate and the one at the mouth of the river permits boat access via a 3/4-mile long 'lock!' Four large centrifugal pumps in the grey casings help in flood control. |
