Summary

Description
English: Looking at the northwest side of the statue "Valor", one of two statues that make up the work The Arts of War. The Arts of War are statues which adorn either side of the northeastern end of Arlington Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C., in the United States. They were designed by sculptor Leo Friedlander, and erected in 1951.

The statue features a nude male riding a stallion, his left arm raised. To the male's left, a woman (nude from the waist up) faces forward, her left arm trailing and holding a shield. The statue is intended to symbolize wartime valor.

The statue stands atop a bronze plinth, which in turn is placed atop a granite pedestal. The pedestal has 36 bronze stars spaced equidistantly at the top, which represent the number of states in the United States at the time of the American Civil War.
