Français : Été 1917 proche de Moscou. Une babouchka allemande et ses deux petites-filles dans le parc de la datcha. Les enfants ont quittés la Russie avec leurs parents dans des circonstances traumatiques, probablement en 1921; après avoir fui à Rostov-sur-le-Don, ils ont pris le dernier convoi des Suisses de Russie (wagons de bétail plombés, promiscuité extrême: surpopulation, pas d'eau, de latrines, d'éclairage, chaleur extrême de l'été, nourriture rationnée) via Odessa pour Varsovie. Puis ils sont arrivés à Bâle où une quarantaine les attendait.
Deutsch: Im Sommer 1917 in der Nähe von Moskau. Eine deutsche Babuchka, Anna(?) von Seidlitz, geborene Nerling, mit ihren zwei Enkelkindern, Irene Elisabeth und Gertrud Kaeser, rechts. Mit ihren Schweizer Eltern flüchteten später (vermutlich 1921) die Kinder nach Basel, eine traumatische Zugreise im plombierten Viehwagen von Rostow am Don über Odessa und Warschau, danach über Berlin nach Basel, wo sie eine Quarantäne erwartete.
English: Summer 1917 in Russia near Moscow. In the park of the dacha, a German babushka and her two granddaughters. The children fled with their Swiss parents (probably in 1921) to Switzerland in a dramatic escape, living first in the South of Russia (Rostov-on-Don), later fleeing through Odessa by sealed cattle-carriage to Warsaw. When the family arrived in Basel, they had to endure a obliged quarantine. This was for this family one of the very rare photographies kept under theses conditions. |
