Summary

Description
English: Triguères' Saint Martin church, seen from the south-east. Although this photo was taken prior to 1863, the church is still the same as of 2013. The ground floor and first level of the spire are from the XIth century and of roman style. The church was almost completely destroyed within 100 years (only its spire base and its front door remain of the old church) and was rebuilt in gothic style in the second third of the XIIth century. But the lanceolated shape of the openings in the spire indicate that it was rebuilt again in the XIIIth century, possibly because the second spire was not high enough anymore for the bells to have the proper range (the second church was higher than the first one). The spire's ornaments at the top date from the XVIth century, date of the last major works on the church.
