Flexible LCD is an LCD that is Flexible in Nature. Flexible LCDs are primarily manufactured for Mobile Phone Displays.

This concept of developing a flexible lcd had been put forth by Synaptics and Kyocera, but they failed to make the technology practical for the consumer market. Subsequently, Samsung and Nokia have been developing prototypes and capitalizing on the flexible LCD technology.

Samsung's planning to unveil their Next generation Flexible LCD Phones in 2012.Samsung’s vice president of investor relations, Robert Yi, told investors, analysts and press, “The flexible display we are looking to introduce sometime in 2012, hopefully the earlier part. The application probably will start from the handset side.”[1]

Nokia's Flexible LCD Phone has been revealed this October in London at the Nokia World 2011 Nokia technology show.Nokia named this device as Nokia Kinetic.[2]
