The Francotyp-Postalia Group has been in business for more than 80 years. Francotyp-Postalia was founded in 1983 from the merger of Francotyp (established 1923 in Bielefeld) and Postalia (established 1938 in Frankfurt/Main). In 1994 the company's activities in Berlin and Offenbach were moved to a modern factory with adjacent administrative offices in Birkenwerder, where up to 40,000 machines of various types are produced annually.

Francotyp-Postalia provides a comprehensive suite of mailstream hardware and software solutions and services. Francotyp-Postalia is the market leader for franking machines in Germany, with a market share of more than 45%. Its market share worldwide was approximately 9% at the end of 2005. Francotyp-Postalia's most important markets are Germany, the United States, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.[1]
