[edit] Broadcasting career

Prior to joining FS Ohio, McLeod served 22 consecutive seasons as the Detroit Pistons TV play-by-play voice, including nine seasons with FS Detroit. His 22 years is a record of a television only announcer with the same NBA team. McLeod began his work on Pistons games in 1984 with PASS Sports.

McLeod also did play-by-play duties on FS Detroit's coverage of Michigan high school football and basketball championships. A Detroit sportscaster since 1982, McLeod was a reporter/weekend anchor at WDIV-TV 4 (NBC), hosting its long-running Sunday night show Sports Final Edition.

McLeod's career includes play-by-play experience of the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, and Oakland Athletics.

McLeod began his professional career in 1974 at KQTV in St. Joseph, Missouri and later at WSTV in Steubenville, Ohio.

In the late 70's he returned home to Cleveland, working for WJKW-TV 8, where he ironically covered (and did play by play for) a Cavs team that had his future broadcasting partner in Austin Carr, and also did play by play for the Indians.

McLeod later moved to KPIX-TV in San Francisco, where he was a sports anchor as well as play by play man for the A's, and then WDIV-TV in Detroit, where he spent the bulk of his career.

He is a graduate of Point Park College in Pittsburgh, where he pitched in the NAIA College World Series.

Since the 2006-2007 season, McLeod has served as the play-by-play announcer on the Cleveland Cavaliers broadcasts on Fox Sports Ohio. [1]
