Frederic Iremonger

The Very Rev Frederic Athelwold Iremonger, DD [1] was an eminent Anglican priest in the mid 20th century.[2] He was born in 1878 and educated at Clifton and Keble College, Oxford.[3] Ordained in 1906[4] he began his career with a curacy at All Saints', Poplar[5] after which he was Priest in charge at St Nicholas, Blackwall.[6] Later he was Vicar of St James the Great, Bethnal Green[7] and then Rector of Quarley. In 1933 he became Director of Religion at the BBC, a post he held to 1939 when he was elevated to the Deanery of Lichfield Cathedral.[8] An Honorary Chaplain to the King,[9] he died on 15 September 1952.[10]
