Fredericton is a Canadian rural community in western Queens County, Prince Edward Island.
Fredericton is situated west of Hunter River and is primarily an agricultural hamlet. In 1872 the community was placed "on the map" when the Prince Edward Island Railway constructed its mainline between Charlottetown and Summerside through Fredericton; at this point the community received a unique dual name as Fredericton Station was also an officially accepted geographic name.
The dual name was rescinded on March 17, 1972 when the community reverted to simply Fredericton.
Fredericton is located on Route 2, the shortest distance all-weather highway between Charlottetown and Summerside.
