Gabriela Robin is a singer and lyricist, credited for lyrics and vocals on many songs composed and arranged by Yoko Kanno.
She has long been rumored to be Kanno's pseudonym.[1] Robin stated in a print interview that she was going to sing in front of an audience for the first time at Kanno's Cho-jiku-tanabata Sonic concert held on July 7 2009.[2] At the end of the concert, Kanno, after conducting a long symphonic medley performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic, turned to the audience and sang 'Moon' from Turn A Gundam, which is attributed to Robin. This event is thought to be Kanno's admission that she is and always has been Robin, but Kanno has still not said so explicitly.
Some of the better-known soundtracks with performances by Robin are Cowboy Bebop, Jin-Roh, Macross Frontier, Macross Plus, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Please Save My Earth, The Vision of Escaflowne, Earth Girl Arjuna, Genesis of Aquarion, Turn A Gundam and Wolf's Rain.
