Galderma is a global leading pharmaceutical company specializing in the research, development and marketing of innovative medical solutions in dermatology. One of the leading investor in dermatology research, with global state-of-the-art R&D facilities, Galderma focuses exclusively on therapeutic and aesthetic innovations. In 2010, sales reached 1,2 billion euros, an increase of 16.1%* over 2009.
Created in 1981, Galderma is a joint venture between Nestlé and L'Oréal. Galderma employs more than 4,000 people. The company has wholly owned affiliates in thirty-one countries and a worldwide network of sales agents. The parent company is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, with Corporate Services in Paris-La Défense, France.
Galderma invests approximately 20% of its revenues in research and development[citation needed] at three sites:[citation needed]
- Princeton New Jersey, USA (clinical development),
- Tokyo Japan (clinical development).
- Sophia Antipolis France (research and development, 500 people). This 25,000-sq. meter state-of-the-art R&D center is Galderma’s largest facility and positions the company as one of the world’s leading investors in dermatology R&D.
Galderma runs three production facilities:[citation needed]
- The Alby-sur-Chéran plant in the Haute-Savoie region of the French Alps opened in 1994. The plant currently delivers more than 32 million units per year to over seventy countries. Located at the same site, the industrial development unit takes new products from the lab to full industrial-scale production.
- The Montreal plant in Canada started production in 2000 to meet the growing demand of the U.S. market. It produces more than 55 million units per year.
- Lastly, Hortolândia (state of São Paulo) in Brazil, serves the regional markets and produces more than 2 million units per year.
