Garden Valley is a crossroads community about 9 miles west of Lindale.^{[citation needed]}

Historically, prior to the formation of nearby town of Van (6 miles west of Garden Valley) in the late 1920s when oil was discovered there, Garden Valley was a town with a post office, stage coach station and a hotel.^{[citation needed]} Today there is only one stop sign in the community's center with no businesses or public buildings.^{[citation needed]}

Garden Valley is headquarters of several prominent Christian ministries Teen Mania,^[1] Mercy Ships,^{[citation needed]} and the Central America Headquarters for Youth With A Mission.^{[citation needed]}
