gategroup has its roots in Swissair catering, from which now-subsidiary Gate Gourmet emerged in 1992. Through a series of mergers and acquisitions gategroup has grown into a multi-billion dollar operation. Acquisitions include Aero-Chef, SAS Service Partner, VARIG Kitchens, British Airways Kitchens and Iber-Swiss.
gategroup is a multinational organization with operations on six continents. As of 2011 it has more than 27,000 employees working across 170 facilities in 35 countries. 2011 revenue was approximately 2.7 billion Swiss francs.
