Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic was a golf tournament on the Japan Golf Tour. It was formed in 2007 from the merger of two long-standing JGT events, the Mizuno Open and the Yomiuri Open. It is played at the Yomiuri Country Club in Nishinomiya, Hyōgo. The purse for the 2010 event was ¥130,000,000, with ¥26,000,000 going to the winner. In 2011, the name reverted to the Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open.
As with the Mizuno Open, the top four finishers, who were not already exempt regarding The Open Championship, receive exemptions. There is also a mini-money list of events up to and including the Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic that earn an exemption to The Open. This gives the event its unique name.
