Geir Rasmussen

Geir Rasmussen is one of the founders of the .name top-level domain and was the CEO of The Global Name Registry (GNR) until the company was acquired [1] by VeriSign on October 1, 2008. Previously Mr Rasmussen was a founder of the personal email provider Nameplanet.com acquired by Netidentity.com in 2002. Nameplanet.com is now part of Tucows following an acquisition in June 2006.[2]

After ICANN revealed the New Top-Level Domain Name (gTLD) Applications on the 13th of June 2012[3] it became publicly known that Mr Rasmussen and Iain Roache had applied for 60[4] gTLDs through Famous Four Media Ltd[5]
