Gender, in linguistics, is the distinction between masculine and feminine in written language and grammar/syntax. Gender also refers to the distinction between male and female individuals, especially with regard to non-biological differences. Finally, Gender is often used to distinguish between masculine and feminine attributes, as defined by a particular culture.
