General Learning Corporation was a joint venture formed when Time, Inc., Silver Burdett, and General Electric put up $18 million in 1965. Silver Burdett was the first division in the new alliance. Former United States Commissioner of Education Francis Keppel was chairman and chief executive officer of GLC from 1966-1974.
