A geofront is a science fiction concept, referring to a large, excavated subterranean space typically used for urban expansion.[citation needed]
Notable appearances include the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell; the video game Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere; and Doctor Who and The Matrix. A similar concept is explored in the Isaac Asimov novel The Caves of Steel.
