George Gorchoff was an American who allegedly worked for Soviet Military Intelligence (GRU) in 1943 during World War II. Gorchoff's code name with the GRU (as identified by the Venona project) was "Gustav".

The Venona analysts identify a reference to Gorchoff in the following decryption:

  • 1579 New York GRU to Moscow, 28 September 1943.

  • John Earl Haynes and Harvey Klehr, Venona: Decoding Soviet Espionage in America, Yale University Press (1999), pgs. 351, 452.
