Vince Dooley was the 22nd head coach of the University of Georgia Bulldogs college football team and served in that role from 1964 to 1988. He compiled a 201–77–10 record (.715 winning percentage).

1966 season

Georgia was retroactively ranked #1 in the Massey Ratings system. In 1966, The Bulldogs went 10-1, with wins over seventh ranked Florida and fifth ranked Georgia Tech in the regular season, as well as convincingly defeating tenth ranked SMU in the Cotton Bowl by a score of 24-9. In addition to being retroactively named as one of the national champions of the 1966 season, Georgia finished as SEC Co-champion with Alabama, which finished #2 in the Massey Ratings system. Alabama finished the season ranked #3 in the AP Poll, while Georgia finished ranked #4. Notre Dame finished #1 in the AP, Coaches poll, and was also voted co-#1 with Michigan State in the National Football Foundation poll. In the Massey Ratings system, Notre Dame finished #3, and Michigan State finished #4.

1968 season

In 1968, Georgia completed the regular season undefeated, but tied twice, finishing 8-0-2 as SEC Champion, and earning an invitation to the Sugar Bowl. Despite an unfortunate 16-2 loss in the bowl game against Arkansas, the Bulldogs were still voted No. 1 in the Litkenhous poll.

Andy Johnson scored the game-winning touchdown in the final minute after Tennessee went for it on a fourth-and-two at their own 28 with 2:32 remaining.[5]
