Georgia Tech Information Security Center
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Georgia Tech Information Security Center (GTISC) is a department of Georgia Tech that deals with information security issues such as cryptography, network security, trusted computing, software reliability, privacy, and internet governance.[1] GTISC has about 80 staff and many undergraduates from Colleges and Schools across the Georgia Tech campus.[2][3] GTISC's current director is Mustaque Ahamad.[4] Blaine Burnham, Richard DeMillo, and Ralph Merkle have previously served as the department's director.[5][6][7]
It was established in April 1998 after the Sam Nunn Information Security Forum, due to Georgia Tech's strengths in technology and policy, and a need for improved security research and education.[8] Researchers come from the Georgia Tech Research Institute as well as Georgia Tech's College of Computing, College of Liberal Arts, and School of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering.[2][3]
