Gera (Greek: Γέρα, also Yera) is a former municipality on the island of Lesbos, North Aegean, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lesbos, of which it is a municipal unit.[1] It is located in the southeastern part of the island, on the southeast side of the Bay of Gera. It has a land area of 86.350 km2 (33.340 sq mi). Its population was 6,985 at the 2001 census. Its municipal seat was the town of Pappádos (pop. 1,510). Its largest towns are Skópelos (1,768), Plakádos, Palaiókipos (1,248), Mesagrós (828), and Pérama (633).
