Gerrit Folsom is a Los Angeles–based producer of major motion pictures and television.

Biography[edit]

Gerrit is the current Executive In Charge of Production at Green Harbor Productions (formerly know as Scout Productions) the company that created 'Queer Eye for the Straight Guy' amongst countless other shows for cable and network television. Last year they produced the horror film 'Nothing Left to Fear' under their production shingle 'Slasher Films' with guitarist and movie buff Slash.

In 1998 Gerrit Folsom produced the film version of the award winning play Dancing at Lughnasa. The film's honors include an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor in a Female Role by Brid Brennan. It was also nominated for 6 other awards including the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Feature Film and the Best Actress Award for Meryl Streep.[citation needed]

In 2000 Gerrit Folsom joined a team of producers to create Where the Heart Is starring Natalie Portman, Ashley Judd, and Stockard Channing.[citation needed] Where The Heart Is earned $33,772,838 in ticket sales.[2]

He is married to costume designer Jo Kissack Folsom and has two children, Georgia and Grace.

Folsom is also an accomplished musician having played lead guitar with the Los Angeles based rock band The Ride.[3][4] and with LA legend King Cotton.
