Giant Food LLC is a supermarket chain with 202 stores in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C..[1] It is headquartered in unincorporated Prince George's County, Maryland, near Landover.[2] Giant often is known as Giant-Landover to avoid confusion with sibling company Giant-Carlisle. Giant-Landover formerly was Giant of Maryland even though it was never exclusively a Maryland grocery chain.[citation needed]
In 2004, Giant-Landover merged with sister company Stop & Shop to create Stop & Shop/Giant-Landover, which itself is a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold.
In 2006, Giant signed a five-year agreement with Starbucks Coffee to open Starbucks locations in several of Giant's stores.[3]
Giant introduced a new logo on August 21, 2008, as part of a larger rebranding campaign;[4] the logo is shared with Stop & Shop.
