Giessendam

Giessendam is a town in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 10 km east of Dordrecht, on the river Beneden-Merwede.

Giessendam was a separate municipality until 1957, when it merged with Hardinxveld to form the new municipalityof Hardinxveld-Giessendam.[1]

Giessendam was a separate municipality until 31 December 1956. The last born person in Giessendam was Flip den Uil (25/12/1956). On January 1, 1957, Giessendam merged with Hardinxveld to form the new municipalityof Hardinxveld-Giessendam.[1]
