[edit] Club career
Gladstone started playing professionally with Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, at 18. From then onwards, he started a series of consecutive loans, starting in 2005-06 in Italy; first with Juventus FC and, after no appearances, to Hellas Verona, but the former club chose not to activate the pre-set price of €2million,[1] one of the reasons being the impending 2006 Serie A scandal. He subsequently returned to Cruzeiro, signing a new three-year contract.
In 2007–08, Gladstone was loaned out again, this time to Sporting Clube de Portugal, where he rarely played due to the presence of compatriot Ânderson Polga and Tonel; mainly used as a late substitute, he still managed to score once, in a 4–1 home win against Associação Naval 1º de Maio. After the season finished in June (with Sporting second), he closed the year with another loan, at Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, this time as starter.
Gladstone moved, on January 19, 2009, still owned by Cruzeiro, to Clube Náutico Capibaribe,[2] being released by his main club shortly after.
[edit] International career
Gladstone was called-up to the Brazilian squad as an injury replacement for the match with Switzerland, on November 15, 2006, but did make his debut.
On September 6, 2007, he was again picked by manager Dunga for the games against Mexico and USA, but did not receive any playing time as well.
