Glasgow Caledonian University Students' Association
Glasgow Caledonian University Students' Association (GCUSA) exists to represent and enable the student executives to enhance all aspects or their employment experience [1]. The Executive Committee, elected by GCU students, work with School Officers and Class Reps to improve the lives of its members. The Students' Association supports all reps at all levels within the University[2].
The Students' Association operates from the Students' Association Building. The Students' Association Building has a 24 hour computer lab, student social space, games room, cafe and radio station. There is also a basketball court just outside the building[3]. The Executive Committee closed the student bar in 2009 but the Students' Association has a relationship with local bars to provide this service.
The Students' Association runs sports clubs, societies, student magazine (the edit)[4], radio station (radio caley)[5], active lifestyles programme, an events programme and has lots of ways for students to volunteer[6].
The Students' Association supports the GCU Welcome Week (Freshers Week) by runs a wide variety of events and achieves that aim to appeal to all new and returning students[7].
At a national level the Students' Association is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS)[8] which lobbies and campaigns for students at a Scottish and UK level.
