Goat Island is an island located between Mt. Pleasant, SC and Isle of Palms, SC on the Intracoastal Waterway. It is one of the smallest islands of the region, being only as large as a neighborhood street. There is another "Goat Island" in Murrells Inlet, SC that is approximately 20,000 ft2. It is called Goat Island because every spring a man named Bubba Love (a local celebrity) and few friends place some goats on the islands. Tourists walking along the Marshwalk (a boardwalk that overlooks the marsh) can watch the goats while they take in the beautiful sunsets. Goat Island has recently added peacocks to the population.
