Coordinates: 61°04′40″N 149°46′42″W / 61.0779°N 149.7783°W Goldenview Middle School is a middle school for grades 7 and 8 located in Anchorage, Alaska with 750 students. Part of the Anchorage School District, Goldenview opened in 1997 after two years of construction and a total cost of $239 million. The school's name is derived from its panoramic “Golden View” that encompasses Cook Inlet, Redoubt Volcano, Flattop Mountain and Mount McKinley. As of 2010-2011, 46 teachers teach at Goldenview. There are 87 faculty in all. The current principal is Julie Maker. The school mascot is the Sun. The school colors are purple, gold and black.

Goldenview offers several electives activities including Youth Court, Drivers Ed, Athletics, and Drama. The drama department often collaborates with Service High School and other communities to put on theatrical productions in the Goldenview auditorium. Goldenview has participated in many pass the joint productions include Crazy For You, The Music Man, Oliver!, Oklahoma!, The Wizard of Oz, Grease, Pirates of Penzance, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and a recent production of Into the Woods. The varsity volleyball team has won city championships five years in a row. Five Peat. The Goldenview Middle School Choir is very accomplished, having won many gold ratings for its success in choral competition. Sometimes Goldenview holds special assemblies like Minute to Win it, where all of the pods compete against each other. Team Nebula won this competition. Goldenview is the one of many middle schools in the state, and among few in the nation that offers a Live Announcement class and a Video Productions class. The Live Announcements class broadcasts the morning announcements to every television monitor in the school and is named GVTV. Video Productions provides students with a chance to create their own videos. Many of the students have later in life used their skills when choosing a profession in video productions. At the end of the year the video productions class puts on video awards where the kids enter videos and win prizes for their efforts.

Goldenview is split into eight teams, or "Pods." They consist of the four core classes; Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies. Originally they have been named after elements, but in the 2008-09 school year, they were changed to astronomic names.
